Single-molecule manipulation technology and protein folding
Speaker: Professor Chen Hu, Xiamen University
Date: March 5, 2021
Time: 10:00
Venue: 3B 105
Intro to the speaker:
Chen Hu, the professor and doctoral supervisor at the Department of Physics, Xiamen University, is engaged in the experimental and theoretical research of single-molecule biophysics. He has studied and developed the magnetic tweezers technology, one of the single-molecule manipulation technologies, which has a wider range of applications, especially in vigorous and single protein folding/unfolding. He developed and improved the technology of using magnetic tweezers to study the mechanical response of proteins, and conducted systematical research on the different mechanical stability of various parts of Filamin A and the mechanism that helps the protein sense mechanical signals.
