Top 3 in Zhejiang Province: WZU enters THE Asian University Rankings for the first time

On June 2, Times Higher Education (THE) released the 2021 Asian University Rankings in which 91 universities in mainland China are listed. Wenzhou University ranks in the range of 201-250 in all Asian universities, 58-72 among the mainland universities, and 3rd in Zhejiang Province.

The Times Higher Education Asian University Rankings uses 13 performance indicators to reflect the characteristics of Asian universities. A comprehensive and balanced comparison of the five core aspects of universities, that is, teaching (25%), research (30%), knowledge transfer (30%), international outlook (7.5%) and industry income (7.5%) was conducted. This year, a total of 551 universities from 30 countries and regions participated in the ranking. To qualify for participation, each university must obtain the qualifications for the previous Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

In addition, Times Higher Education also announced the shortlist for the 2021 THE Awards Asia, and Wenzhou University was successfully shortlisted for the award "Excellence and Innovation in the Arts". The award is designed to recognize the pioneering work done by universities to promote the arts. Other seven universities from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Qatar, Thailand and Iraq were also shortlisted.

It is reported that the THE Awards has a 16-year history as a milestone in the British higher education industry and has been hailed as the "Oscar Award in the higher education industry". In 2019, THE Awards Asia was introduced to Asia for the first time, providing Asian universities with an important international platform to recognize their outstanding leadership and performance.
