WZU and Wenzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism jointly built “Cultural Capital of East Asia · China (Wenzhou)- Japan- South Korea Think Tank”

On the morning of January 26, the “2022 Cultural Capital of East Asia · China Wenzhou Event Year” and Wenzhou Promotion and Exchange Organization made their debut at Wenzhou Overseas Communication Center. Xu Peng, the deputy director of Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture and Tourism, Lou Shaoguang, the vice mayor of Wenzhou Municipal People’s Government, and the head of the School of Foreign Studies, WZU attended the event. Xiang Guangfu, the deputy secretary general of the municipal government, moderated the event.

To give full play to Wenzhou’s first-mover advantage of opening up to the outside world, to promote the “2022 Cultural Capital of East Asia · China Wenzhou Event Year”, to enhance the cultural exchange between East Asian cultural capitals, and to deepen research on Japan, South Korea, ASEAN, Europe and other countries in the world, the School of Foreign Studies, WZU and Wenzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism jointly established the “Cultural Capital of East Asia · China (Wenzhou)- Japan- South Korea Think Tank”. Zhu Yunhua, the head of the Bureau awarded the license to the School. It is believed that the Think Tank will further leverage the resources and cultural advantages of Wenzhou people around the world and help build Wenzhou into the “East Asian Cultural Capital” in 2022.

Ye Miao, the dean of the School of Foreign Studies said that “our School will take this awarding ceremony as an opportunity, adhere to the policy of serving the local community, strive to cultivate more graduates proficient in foreign languages, and contribute to WZU’s efforts to build itself into a university featuring overseas Chinese and supported by both the province and the Ministry of Education.”
