Halfway the Winter Olympic Games, What Breakthroughs Have the Chinese Athletes Made?

On the evening of February 12, Yi Jiandong, the internationally renowned Olympic research expert and professor from Wenzhou University, received the CCTV’s interview to comment on the breakthroughs of the Chinese athletes in the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.

Professor Yi Jiandong said that the number of competition events attended by the Chinese delegation this time had increased substantially. A total of 176 Chinese athletes attended this grand event, reaching a record high and reflecting the comprehensive strength and competitiveness of our winter sports. China has won 4 gold medals so far, all of which have historical significance, with advantageous events achieving good results, and new events making major breakthroughs. It is believed that China would witness its best accomplishment and high-quality performance in this session. 

Professor Yi, a world-class expert in Olympic research, works in our School of Physical Education and Health. He provided professional comments on sports and health, Olympic sports events, etc. on the national media for many times, and served as a guest commentator for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2021 Tokyo Summer Olympics. As the chief editor of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics bid report, he has a comprehensive understanding of the overall conditions, and received interviews about the Winter Olympics on CCTV and Beijing TV for many times. He was also invited to edit and publish the book series about Winter Olympics, and write articles for renowned magazines such as Philosophy Dynamics and New Sports. He will continue to share his views on the Olympic Games in the coming interviews.
